YE-DATA YD-640 Floppy Drives Replacement
 

Originally, I was thinking of getting someone to make one up the design for a modified version of Gotek Drive into something like ZX Spectrum +3, Amstrad CPC6128/664/FD-1 & Tatung Einstein GoTek USB Floppy Emulator Internal Caddy (3" Drive Replacement) to replace the existing early YD-640 Floppy Drive but I'm not 100% sure, so I've added many pics as shown below including showing Gotek drive fitted on RM Nimbus X10.

 

 

I've tested one of these Gotek drives exactly the same as GOTEK USB Floppy Emulator from eBay, this fits very perfectly after screwing it onto metal drive bracket / support except leaving a gap at the top. The screw holes are absolutely spot on, perfect fit! If 3.5" Drive Bay Gotek Floppy Emulator Bracket has exactly the same dimensions as this Gotek drive, then all have to do is raise the height to 39mm / 3.9cm on the front and make the same colour as early YE Data YD-640 Floppy Drive to match the same colour on RM Nimbus X10. If not, Black colour is fine and that's fully sorted!

 

Unless I need someone to modify the whole Gotek case including the front, back and both sides or only the front bit by adjusting the height from 25mm to 39mm, so that it'll be the same as the most popular standard 25mm tall Gotek version except it'll be 39mm taller version of Gotek drive.

 

    

As for the wires, will need depending on the following:

• X10: 40 way female IDC connector with 34 way Ribbon cable to single 34 way female IDC connector

• PC2 (1985): 40 way female IDC connector with slightly longer 34 way Ribbon cable to dual 34 way female IDC connectors for both Drive A & B like an example shown inside of my PC2 (1987 re-design) but unsure about the length between dual connectors.

• Floppy drive power lead: As for my X10, I just need 5.25" 4 Pin Molex To 3.5" Floppy Drive FDD Internal Power Cable Adaptor but I'm not sure about my PC2 (1985 design), unless I make one up for the floppy drive.
